Maynooth

The project aimed to design a user-friendly e-commerce website and mobile app for Maynhoot, a modern furniture store. The objective was to create a clean, intuitive, and visually appealing platform that allows users to explore and purchase high-quality furniture online. The project was executed using Figma, which facilitated the creation of wireframes, prototypes, and design iterations.

Project

The Maynhoot Furniture Store UX project involved designing a simple, green-themed e-commerce website and mobile app. Using Figma, I focused on creating a user-friendly interface that allows customers to easily explore and purchase furniture. The design emphasizes clarity, with detailed product descriptions and a smooth shopping experience across both web and mobile platforms.

Project Objectives

  • Design a Simple, Green-Themed Website: The website was designed with a minimalistic approach, using a green color scheme that aligns with Maynhoot's branding. The goal was to keep the design straightforward and easy to navigate, ensuring that users can easily find and purchase furniture products.

  • E-Commerce Functionality: The website and app needed to support robust e-commerce features, including product browsing, detailed product descriptions, and a seamless checkout process. The focus was on ensuring that users could quickly understand the technical differences between furniture items and make informed purchasing decisions.

  • Product Explanation: Special attention was given to presenting the technical specifications and features of each furniture item. The website and app provided detailed descriptions, including material quality, dimensions, and usage recommendations, helping users differentiate between products.

  • Responsive Design for Website and App: The designs were optimized for both desktop and mobile devices, ensuring a consistent and pleasant user experience across platforms. The mobile app was designed to provide a similar experience to the website but with features tailored for on-the-go browsing and purchasing.

Technical Approach

  • Wireframes: Low-fidelity wireframes were created in Figma to map out the basic structure and layout of the website and app. These wireframes focused on the placement of key elements like navigation menus, product listings, and the shopping cart, ensuring a logical flow for the user journey.

  • Prototyping: High-fidelity prototypes were developed to visualize the final design. These prototypes included interactive elements, allowing stakeholders to experience the website and app as end-users would. The prototypes were tested for usability, ensuring that the navigation, product exploration, and checkout processes were intuitive and efficient.

  • Responsive Design: The website and app were designed with a responsive layout, ensuring that the content adapts smoothly to different screen sizes. This was critical for maintaining usability on both desktop and mobile devices.

Final Deliverables

  • Website Design: A clean, green-themed e-commerce website that provides users with detailed information on furniture products and a smooth purchasing process.

  • Mobile App Design: A companion mobile app that offers a similar user experience to the website, optimized for mobile devices with a focus on quick and easy browsing.

  • Figma Files: Complete Figma files, including all wireframes, prototypes, and design components, were delivered, providing a comprehensive design package ready for development.

Outcome

This project highlights my ability to create user-centered designs that combine aesthetic appeal with functional efficiency, using Figma as the primary design tool. The final designs for Maynhoot effectively communicate the brand's identity while ensuring a seamless shopping experience for customers.
